Choose the material by the room: PVC where there is moisture, timber for a natural finish in living areas, and
aluminium for patios and exposed windows. Plantation shutters are panels of wide, adjustable louvres (the
horizontal blades) that tilt to let in light and air or close for privacy.

The frame matters as much as the material. An L frame or Z frame sits inside or around the window recess, and
a track is used for sliding and bi-fold panels. Your consultant checks the recess depth and whether each
window is square, then recommends the frame that will let the panels close cleanly. Ask to see each material at
